Employment and Training

 

The Employment & Training program purpose is to increase Aboriginal participation in the Canadian Labor Market, to ensure that First Nations are engaged in sustainable meaningful employment, and providing training and employment assistance.

The program is the Sub-Agreement Holder of the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy (ASETS) which is the successor to the Aboriginal Human Resource Development Strategy (AHRDS). The ASETS Agreement came into effect on October 1, 2010 and will expire on March 31, 2015. The Master Agreement holder is First Peoples Development Inc.

Activities eligible for support under the ASETS program include activities that provide assistance in support of the:

  • Aboriginal Labor Market
  • Skills Development
  • Training for High Demand Jobs
  • Job Finding
  • Youth
  • Programs for Youth
  • Skills Development
  • Job Finding
  • Person with Disabilities
  • Programs for Aboriginal Peoples with disabilities
  • Capacity Building
  • Build capacity of Aboriginal organizations to deliver employment related program
  • First Nations Child Care
  • Funding for the Elsie Catcheway Memorial Early Learning Centre (Day Care) falls under this agreement.
